Today on the show we’ll hear recordings from small jazz groups from the 1930s through to the 1950s. There are some very talented musicians in our line up along with some fabulous singers, and even a big band or two. As a special feature, we highlight the work of several wonderful jazz pianists from the time. Listen to Count Basie, Oscar Peterson and Mary Lou Williams, along with celebrated stride pianists James P Johnson and Fats Waller. And, of course, all those marvellous tunes from the great songwriters of the 20th century!
