Today’s show features recordings from the 1930s through to the 1950s, in a selection of songs from the pens of the great songwriters of the time. Among our ladies we’ll hear from Mildred Bailey, Doris Day, Helen Humes, Ivie Anderson and Helen Ward. We listen as well to some of the great orchestras of the time, including those led by Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Bob Crosby and Artie Shaw, as well as some lovely trumpet work from Jonah Jones and.
