IHTSB May 19, 2024
This is the weekend that Canadians traditionally mark as Victoria Day, and for us it’s an opportunity to reflect on the contribution made to popular culture by those with ties to Britain. On today’s show we celebrate the British influence in the jazz and popular music culture during our time period. We listen to recordings made in the UK from the 1930s and the 1940s by some of the wonderful artists who flourished there at that time. Featured today are dance bands that music fans listened and danced to, with their musicians and vocalists, as well as jazz groups inspired by styles from America. Enjoy the sound all over again!
