The 1920s and 1930s saw the creation and flourishing of many jazz and dance bands in the US and UK. These bands were home to many of great jazz musicians whose careers spanned the twentieth century and the bands were also the precursors of the Swing Era as well as the mainstream orchestras that followed it. We’ll listen today to a selection of recordings from these bands who were very popular in the US and UK, with their distinctive styles and to some excellent music from the musicians and singers in their ranks. Enjoy this tour of the early days!
