Today is the first Sunday in May and it’s also the day in the year that we celebrate the birthday of a particular performer, one of the most successful, influential and loved in the popular music field, and that is of course, Bing Crosby. Bing was born May 3, 1903, and once again, we’re going to have our own birthday party for Bing and enjoy a few selections of music from the immense repertoire of recordings he made. He had an amazing voice, a rich warm baritone that had an intimacy and directness remarkable for its tone, range and accuracy. He is considered to have been the most popular and influential media star of the first half of the 20th century, including an extensive and varied career in song, radio, television and film, becoming one of the most popular and successful stars of the twentieth century.
