One of the most lyrical and dependable pianists in jazz Red Garland welcomes us to another addition of In Transition. Long admired by trumpet great Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins and many others as a pianist of note (no pun intended), Red’s careful selection of notes is always evident in his playing. Hailing from the province of Quebec, Canada and former member of the band UZEB, Alain always delivers with solid bass playing, great songs and superb playing with whoever he plays with. Trumpet player Johnny Coles who at one time performed with bassist Charles Mingus is also featured,. You may be surprised by his phrasing and attention to detail. A long underrated musician with a beautiful tone.
