Listen today to some fabulous big bands in recordings they made in the 1930s and 1940s. Some very famous names join us, like Count Basie and Duke Ellington, as well as Benny Carter. Perhaps less well known to modern audiences but no less talented, we’ll hear from bands like Lucky Millinder and Jimmie Lunceford,. And as a special feature we’ll listen to two of the wonderful bands that included musicians from the Caribbean, who made their career home in the UK in the 1930s and 40s, led by Ken Snakehips Johnson and Frank Deniz.
