2022 01 IHTSB January 09 Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Vic Damone…

Our selection today features some fabulous singers and musicians from the 1930s to the 1960s. Among our singers, Frank Sinatra and Helen Merrill bring us the lovely melodies and witty lyrics of songwriter Cole Porter. Bing joins us with the Ray Noble melody “The Touch of Your Lips”, and we hear Ella Fitzgerald with a delightful version of the Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields song “A fine Romance”. For a special treat, we enjoy some exquisite trumpet work from two of the most gifted exponents of the time, Miles Davis and Chet Baker. And we hear once again from Robert Farnon conducting his lovely arrangement of “Something to Remember You By” by the songwriting team of Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz.
