On today’s show we celebrate the Canada Day weekend with wonderful recordings from the 1940s and 1950s by Canadian musicians, singers and songwriters. We start off with the legendary pianist Oscar Peterson accompanying jazz singer Anita O’Day, and follow them with recordings taken from live performances by three excellent Canadian big bands from the mid 1940s. Joining us next are three lovely singers from Montreal, the immensely popular bands of Guy Lombardo and Percy Faith. And we conclude with four recordings from the orchestra of the eminent Canadian composer, arranger and musician Robert Farnon. Happy Canada Day!
