Today we listen to a mixed selection of recordings from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, featuring singers and musicians of the time. We’ll hear from big bands led by Woody Herman, Bob Crosby and Glenn Miller. Our singers bring us several recordings, including a young Billie Holiday and a duet from Buddy Clark and Doris Day. We hear too from small jazz groups such as those led by Chet Baker, Benny Goodman and Johnny Hodges. And we’ll have a short feature on songs about the city of New York, with recordings from Ella Fitzgerald, Jo Stafford and Harry James. Enjoy the music!!
