Today we listen to a selection of singers and big bands in recordings from the 1930s to the 1950s. Among our singers we feature Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby along with Doris Day and Frank Sinatra. We’re joined by the big band led by Count Basie as well as three fine bands led by musicians called Jimmy: Jimmie Lunceford, Jimmy McPartland and Jimmy Dorsey. And we conclude with Helen Humes from 1960 in a recording of “My Old Flame”. Enjoy this lovely music!
