2024-07-IHTSB-July-14 La Fête Nationale De La France is in the spotlight on today’s episode.

IHTSB Jul 10, 2024

Today we are celebrating la Fête Nationale de la France. It’s the French national holiday, also known as le quatorze juillet, which is celebrated on 14 July each year. This is an opportunity for us to reflect on the huge contribution made to popular music culture by French singers, musicians and songwriters during the period from the 1930s through to the 1960s. We listen to Charles Trénet, Edith Piaf and Yves Montand along with other singers and to the work of French songwriters of the time. Enjoy their lovely and distinctive sounds and styles, so evocative of France and its music, as it continues to delight us today!
