In this show we celebrate the work of one of the finest pianists in jazz and popular music, Teddy Wilson. He has been described as the quintessential swing pianist, and he was certainly blessed with a delightful sense of timing and phrasing and a beautiful touch on the keys. Teddy is a frequent visitor to the show, and in this program we hear a selection of his recordings from the 1930s and into the 1940s. These include some very fine examples of his art from the series of classic jazz recordings that he made with the major jazz artists and vocalists of the day for the Brunswick label. This series is acknowledged as one of the great jazz treasuries of the day. And we also hear recordings he made with the Benny Goodman trio and quartet, one of the finest small jazz groups of the 1930s. Enjoy some lovely jazz!
